But, of course, he has a plan! A plan that will require him to recruit a new Rorschach (this time the son of the psychiatrist who tried to treat Rorschach in prison) and two psychopathic villains (The Mime and the Marionette) and travel to the alternate universe in which Dr. Picking up some seven(ish) years after the end of Watchmen, Doomsday Clock begins as Adrian Veidt’s plan to save humanity falls apart with everyone being aware that he was the force behind the squid-drop. But it sure tries to tell an interesting story, and when it does work, it’s often very good. The plot of this comic, itself, is so muddled that large chunks of it go completely unexplained and the final issue almost collapses under its own pressure as so little of anything has actually been explained. There are numerous moments that go by way too quickly that you wish would go by a bit slower so you could really dig into what’s being done (most notably the first couple of issues that actually sets everything up) and then there’s a lot of stuff that goes by so slowly in some of the later issues that you wish would be sped through a bit quicker so the comic could focus more on the more interesting elements of the plot and its themes. It’s clearly trying to emulate Alan Moore’s style from the Watchmen graphic novel, but it doesn’t quite nail its homage. Perhaps the biggest problem with Doomsday Clock, besides its inconsistent publication schedule, is its pacing. Spinning out of Watchmen, DC Universe: Rebirth, and Batman/The Flash: The Button, Doomsday Clock rewrites the past, present, and future of the DC Universe. Manhattan. Alongside a new Rorschach and the never-before-seen Mime and Marionette, he follows Manhattan’s trail to the DC Universe, which is on the brink of collapse as international tensions push the “doomsday clock” ever closer to midnight. Now a fugitive, he has come up with a new plan to redeem himself in the eyes of the world. Seven years after the events of Watchmen, Adrian Veidt has been exposed as the murderer of millions. ![]() (This review covers all twelve issues of Doomsday Clock and may contain mild spoilers.)ĭoomsday Clock (written by Geoff Johns, illustrated by Gary Frank) But, I suppose, that’s in line with the original Watchmen graphic novel. Unfortunately, rereading the whole series upon its completion didn’t really make it much easier to follow. But then the actual series came out and it was plagued by so many delays in its publication that it genuinely became difficult to follow the story as it went on. I love Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ Watchmen and I really enjoy the DC Universe I even thought much of the lead up to this series was very good – or, at least, intriguing. I really wish Doomsday Clock was better than it is.

Place each cutlet in the air fryer on 370F for 10-15 minutes. Now it is time to watch the magic happen. Once thoroughly mixed, spread the seasoned oil over each cutlet. Set the now four pieces aside. In a small bowl, mix seasonings with the avocado oil. Using two chicken cutlets, cut them in half. The best way to avoid overcooking is to use an internal meat thermometer. ![]() So really, the Selling Sunset drama is really high school drama. I don’t want to be involved in the drama, you know, I have my crazy personal life drama with my baby loss. I don’t want to say things that might hurt someone. I have opinions and I try to be very honest and direct, but also I don’t want to hurt people. SK: You’ve always been a bit of a neutral source. So it’s been really really busy for months, nonstop actually! SK: A big part of this season was centered around Christine kind of being on the outs with the rest of the girls. The first two months were terrible for me, I just didn’t realize what the heck had happened. I had a crazy four months since I lost my baby. Selling Sunset's Maya Vander Reveals She Had a Stillbirth: 'I Do Not Wish This On Anyone' Still, Vander admits the drama - particularly centering on her and her co-stars’ relationship with Christine Quinn - is a major reason fans keep watching, and she understands it’s part of the game. With season five having been filmed while she was pregnant with the child she eventually lost, we recently caught up with the 40-year-old who explained why the drama on the show feels like “high school” in comparison to her personal grief and the loss of baby Mason. This past year, Vander experienced the tragic loss of her baby after having a stillbirth. Selling Sunset season five dropped on Netflix last Friday and if you already watched all ten episodes, you know that Vander shared her announcement that she is planning on relocating full-time to Miami to be with her family. ![]() Maya Vander for her part is often seen as the neutral, voice of reason at The Oppenheim Group in Los Angeles, and that’s exactly why fans love her. Each one of the women on the show brings something completely different to the table. I have to assume that its because I was so far over the 65000 limit that the Model importing tool made arbitrary decisions of removing triangles. the mesh model is riddled with triangular holes in it. I thought it was just invisible and I created som phantom mesh. About 3 minutes later the model popped up. When if finally arrived I dragged the model to my floor and waited. It actually successfully calculated the mesh model and surprisingly it was way lower than I imagined - upload cost of 14L and LI=75. I figured the number of vertices might be too high with physics and LODs so I tinkered and set the physics to lowest and set all LODs but the highest to 0. I am starting to think that importing a sculptris model into SL is impossible. SL took a minute then came back with the following : I assumed the upload and LI was not gonna be good. There are 174752 triangles and 201965 vertices. I set the the physics to the lowest (I dont care if there even is physics) and the LOD for medium low lowest to generate. I knew it was gonna be high if it was created in Sculptris that has no vertices limits as it creates. I exported to a DAE and tried to import the model into SL (or at least just see its costs). The sculptris model showed up in Blender just as it looked in sculptris (and zbrush for that matter). So I installed Blender and imported the OBJ there. My next thought was - maybe Blender can do it. OK I was playing around some more and it seems that Zsculpty plugin within Zbrush just doesnt know how to work with the OBJ imported and generated mesh that came from Sculptris. ![]() I have the CAE file if it helps someone figure out why SL thinks there are no triangles or vertices in it. PS - this is a 2D photo of the model in Sculptris (and the OBJ import to zbrush looks identical). I am using the latest version of Zsculpty (9B i believe). And when the load model screen came up there was an X on the LEVEL OF DETAILS screen saying that the Triangles and Vertices for the DAE model were N/A. I thought - woo hoo this might even work. Zbrush had no errors in doing it and created the file. Then I used Zsculpty in Zbrush to generate the DAE. I thought I would try to do my first mesh import and I knew that Sculptris could not generate DAE files so I exported the model to OBJ and imported it into my Zbrush. When I created it, I was asked to bring it into SL to show it at a UWA art challenge. I am sure there is an easy answer to this but this was my first quick shot at importing a mesh model from my 3D tool and it failed. ![]() Vanilla is mainly used in baking and pastry applications, where it is an indispensable flavoring agent in cakes, cookies, custards, ice cream, candies and more. The flavor profile is sweet, creamy and mellow with velvety after-tones. Taste our Vanilla Paste, and you'll immediately notice the difference. Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Bean Paste is crafted from our famous Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract, along with real bean specks from the vanilla pod. It is estimated that 95% of the vanilla products in the world are made with imitation vanilla, rather than the superior natural vanilla extract. Vanilla beans are green when harvested and become black due to the lengthy fermentation process, but remain soft and flexible. Madagascar vanilla is also known as Bourbon vanilla, not in reference to the spirit used to make the extract but from the former name of the island Réunion,“Île Bourbon.” The second most expensive spice in the world after saffron, vanilla is prized in both the culinary and perfuming industries for its rich, mouthwatering fragrance. It is made by combining the richly fragrant seed pods-or "vanilla beans"-of the flat-leaved vanilla orchid (Vanilla planifolia) with a sweet syrup consisting of sugar, water, and natural sweetener. ![]() ![]() ![]() Edward’s chosen family, the Cullens, are a brood of vampires who live in harmony with humans and feed on animal bl00d, an option which apparently hadn’t occurred to Jasper in his years of brooding over ƙ□ℓℓing humans for sustenance.Īlice convinces Jasper to seek out the Cullens with her and he falls for her before they meet the family, becoming her mate for life (or unɗᥱαꚍɧ, as it were). Eventually coming across Ashley Greene’s empathetic Alice after absconding from his creator and her vampire army, Jasper is told about the Cullen clan. However, as Rosalie’s backstory and the surprisingly bl00dless climax of Breaking Dawn Part 2 both prove, the series is consistently able to offer hope at the tail end of even the darkest tales. Jasper’s Happy EndingĪfter this grim ordeal, it’s reasonable to question whether the Twilight saga could hope to grant Jasper anything like a happy ending. That’s what leads to Jasper’s eventual escape from his creator’s clutches. The sensitive character soon finds the process of turning humans into vampires, only to often ƙ□ℓℓ them, leaves him ɗᥱαɗ inside. Not that it matters much to Jasper, though. It’s never clarified whether Jasper’s coven is attempting to overthrow the Romanian coven or the Volturi, but judging by the lore of Twilight Marcus, Are, and co should be in power in Europe at this stage. Thus begins Jasper’s decades of turning innocent civilians into vampires, with the newborn vampire training each of his coven’s victims to become soldiers and mercy-ƙ□ℓℓing those who couldn’t handle their new life. It’s a dark and surprisingly atmospheric sequence for the Twilight series, but unlike Rosalie’s tonally jarring backstory, Jasper’s violent entrapment doesn’t stray too far into explicit territory for Eclipse. In a scene worthy of the campy violent vampire drama Interview With a Vampire, Jasper is turned after being seduced during a moonlit night by a trio of beautiful vampires whose leader is looking to build an army. However, the horrors of war don’t come to a close to the start of Jasper’s torment when he comes across a coven of vampires while transporting refugees. There, Jasper sees endless ɗᥱαꚍɧ and destruction which takes a sizeable mental toll, with the skillful soldier eventually ferrying refugees from affected areas when constant combat becomes too intense to bear. Even before becoming a vampire, Jasper was enlisted on the wrong side of the US civil war, and his time spent in service isn’t exactly glamorized in the brief glimpses Eclipse offers of the conflict. It’s clear from the start of Jasper’s lengthy tale he tells Bella that, like his adopted sister Rosalie Cullen, the character had a pretty brutal backstory. Until then a minor character, in Eclipse Jasper was granted a lengthy, gruesome flashback which delved into a tale of deception, betrayal, anguish, and not a little bl00d in its dark story set over a hundred years before the action of Twilight. Slade’s lone Twilight outing Eclipse was considered by many to be the strongest standalone movie in the saga, thanks in no small part to the intriguing backstory that the adaptation provided for Jasper Cullen. Fortunately, Weitz was himself replaced by 30 Days of Night director David Slade, who brought an appropriately dark edge to the series. ![]() This was a particularly prevalent problem for new director Chris Weitz, who won over few fans when Hardwicke didn’t return for the first Twilight sequel New Moon. Like the Harry Potter series before it, the Twilight movies struggled to keep fans happy while also keeping runtimes reasonable and a handful of key moments were missing from each book’s movie adaptation. As is often the case with book-to-movie adaptations, some of these changes left fans dismayed. As the Twilight movies continued the saga, the lore of the series grew more complex and the truncated runtime of the Twilight adaptations meant that many major elements of the series were elided or compressed. Buoyed by supporting turns from Billy Black and Cam Gigandet as the campy villain James, the first film in the series told the story of Edward Cullen, a moody vampire, and his infatuation with human teenager Bella.ĭespite receiving consistent brutal reviews from critics, the Twilight saga was a hit with its intended audience of teenage girls and even won over some older fans with its streak of self-aware humor. Beginning in 2008 with Catherine Hardwicke’s grey-filtered teen romance Twilight, the Twilight saga was a series of blockbuster movies based on the paranormal novel series of the same name by American author Stephenie Meyer. The soft-spoken Jasper Cullen (or Hale) may be one of the Cullen clan’s quietest members, but he has one of the most gruesome canon backstories of any Twilight character. ![]() Having a Mexican-inspired fiesta? This goes great with my guacamole or chicken enchiladas. There are several mid-range tequilas that are really good for margaritas without breaking the bank. I love them for sipping on the rocks or neat with a lime, but I’d skip them when it comes to a margarita. Best Tequila for MargaritasĪ quick note on top-shelf tequilas. You can really taste the difference.īut enough with the history, I prefer my margaritas made a little stronger, and always with a Blanco or Reposado tequila and triple sec-sometimes Cointreau if you’re looking to step it up even further. Higher-end restaurants and bars are finally starting to catch on and ditching artificial mixes/sweeteners, opting for fresh ingredients. I like a ratio of 1/2 ounce of simple sugar to 1 ounce of fresh lime juice. Store-bought margarita mix is actually a modern-day shortcut, the classic margarita recipe (created nearly 100 years back) called for freshly squeezed limes and sometimes agave ( simple sugar will do). It’s not sickly sweet or full of artificial sweeteners like store-bought margarita mix. But, hey, if you only wanna drink them in summer, I cant physically stop you, but I think youre making a bad call. Pour into glasses, adding more ice from the pitcher to each glass as needed. Let sit for 5 minutes to allow for some of the ice to melt and mellow the margaritas. You can taste the tequila’s natural flavors so it’s best suited for a better tequila. So, for me, thats like a year round thing. Place the tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, and ice in a large pitcher, and stir to combine. The original or classic margarita is a classic cocktail made with tequila, fresh lime juice, simple syrup (melted sugar in water), and triple sec. |
